The Series SARDÌNNIA was established and is edited by Giovanni Masala, Titus Gast, Markus Fritsche and Andreas Stieglitz in cooperation with the Institute for Literature Studies (Romance Literatures II) and the Lectorate for Sardinian language and culture Studies at the University of Stuttgart.

GIOVANNI MASALA works as lecturer at the Institute for Literature Studies (Romance Literatures II) at the University of Stuttgart. Since 2003 he directs the series SARDÌNNIA. This series intends to edit published and non-published scripts of German and non-German intellectuals and scientists, which have made important contributions to the scientific research into the Sardinian language and culture. Masala has studied Romance literature and culture, German literature and pedagogics in Sassari and Braunschweig.

MANUELA MEREU studied German and English at the University of Cagliari, where she discussed her degree thesis: Ohne Erinnerung hat die Zeit kein Gesicht, Ricordo e superamento del passato nei romanzi di Max von der Grün, Philipp Wiebe e Werner Warsinsky. Afterwards she attended a Master at the same university ("Multiculturalismo e Pluriliguismo in Sardegna"), discussing her final work about the standardization of the Sardinian idiom: Propostas de istandardizatzione de sa limba sarda.

TITUS GAST traveled to Sardinia some years ago by accident - and since then, he has been captured by this island in the Mediterranean. Gast studied Italian philology, political science and organisational psychology and in his master thesis he has analyzed the actual linguistic conditions in Sardinia. Since 2003 he mainly works in his original profession as radio journalist. In addition to his duties as co-editor of the series, Gast is in charge of the SARDÌNNIA-website and the cover designs of the books.

HELGE-NADJA ANSORG studied Italian language and literature and german as a foreign language at the university of Leipzig, where she wrote her Master?s thesis on Language Contact And Awareness of Language on the Isle of Sardinia. During research work about the life and work of Max Leopold Wagner her attention was drawn to the series Sardėnnia. After her two-month teaching training at A.C.I.T. (Italo-German Association for Culture) in Cagliari in the winter of 2004, she spent another month on the island doing research (January 2005). Closely connected with the ensemble Cuncordu e Tenore de Orosei by long-standing friendly cooperation, Nadja Ansorg has organized a number of concerts since 2002, introducing the Sardinian group to both, the musically minded and the culturally interested of East Germany.

MORITZ BURGMANN studied romance philology, germanic philology and history at the universities of Bonn and Montpellier III. Master of Arts in 2000, doctor of philology in 2004 with a dissertation about Deutsches Sprachgut im Französischen: Aspekte lexikalischer Transferenz im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert. He has written several articles about lexicology and one, published in 2002, about sardinian phonetics: "Auslautendes -e und -i in der Mundart von Villagrande Strisáili" (with Ph. Burdy). Collaborator of the Progetto Lacanas, supported by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, aiming at the registration and analysis of toponymy and vocabulary of the municipality of Villagrande Strisáili.

MARKUS FRITSCHEloves and knows Sardinia probably more than anybody ever. He has visited the island more than 40 times and he mainly resides at Orosei, which is located at the east coast. In his book "The Mould of an Island: Footprints in Sardinia" ("Der Inselabdruck: Fußspuren auf Sardinien" Oldenburg 2002), Fritsche paints Sardinian portraits and characters with a brush he has deeply and respectfully dunked in the Sardinian soul. Currently, Fritsche still lives in Baindt at the lake of Constance, but soon he and his little family will move to Sardinia.

HELGA MERZ is interested in the cultures of the western Mediterranean area. Her particular affection belongs to Sardinia, that she knows more than 20 years. Fascinated of the traditions, the language and the variety of sardinian music she cooperates in this edition.

ANDREAS STIEGLITZ studied German literature and geography. He lives in Frankfurt and works as freelance travel journalist, tour guide and photographer. His extensive traveling focused on the Azores and especially Sardinia, which is why he knows the island very well. His last work about Sardinia is called "Expedition through Sardinia" ("Entdeckungsreise durch Sardinien", Frankfurt, Köln 2002). Furthermore, he recently edited the classic in Sardinian travel literature par excellence: Heinrich von Maltzans "ourney on the Island Sardinia" ("Reise auf der Insel Sardinien", Frankfurt am Main 2002).
